Wilda (Cumby) Burnett

September 25, 1937 — August 28, 2017

Wilda Burnett, 79, beloved Mother, was called to heaven to share her eternal life with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Monday, August 28, 2017. She entered this world on September 25, 1937, in Rogers, TX, born to Victor "Dick" and Francis Cumby. She married Charles Burnett on August 17, 1985, in Tuscola, Texas.

The family will receive visitors from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday, August 30, 2017, at Fry-Smith Funeral Home in Tuscola. Memorial service will be held at 1pm Thursday, August 31, 2017, at First Baptist Church-Tuscola, burial to follow in Rogers Cemetery.

Wilda attended schools in the Rogers Community and South Taylor Schools in Tuscola. Throughout her life, she maintained a sweet and simple demeanor that won the trust and hearts of many, whose lives were changed by her witness of nurturing love and faith. Her gift of joy, shown through her constant smiling and laughter will never be forgotten. Possessing a true servant’s heart, mom faithfully cared for family and friends through delicious cooking and baking from scratch, sewing or crafting.

She is survived by her son's Kyle (Rhonda) Swinney of Abilene: Tod (Kathie) Gathings of Granbury; Grandchildren: Jeffrey (Samantha) Swinney of Abilene, Jason Swinney of College Station, Emily and Ava Gathings of Granbury, Brother's James "Topy" Cumby, Tommy (Judy) Cumby, Jackie (Pat) Cumby, Sister's Brenda (Mike) Smith and Karen (Gene) Yost.

Preceded in death by her husband Charles Burnett, parents Dick and Frances Cumby, and sister-in-law Juanita Cumby.
