Wanda Ganelle (Everts) Ford

Wanda Ganelle (Everts) Ford was born August 13, 1933 in Scurry County, Texas to John and Effie Everts. She was 1 of 6 children.

She graduated from Ira High school in 1952
and married Weldon Ford from Snyder, Tx October 4, 1952, just before Weldon was drafted into the Korean War. She was a strong resilient woman who endured 22 months apart from her new husband.
They resided in Abilene upon his return from Korea. They moved to Wylie in 1973, then moved to Tuscola in 2000.

Wanda was employed at Sears and Abilene Savings and Loan but she said she was really employed all the days of her life.

She was a follower of Christ all the days of her life and was admired for devotion to her faith and family. She and Weldon attended Northwest Church of Christ in Abilene then Jim Ned Valley Church of Christ after moving to Tuscola,Tx.

She is fondly remembered for the long walks she and Weldon took hand in hand every day. Her passion as she proudly stated many times was fishing for catfish down in the Valley, having a clean home and baking her famous red velvet cake which everyone requested often and sewing for the grandkids.

She and Weldon began traveling in their travel trailer in 2000 to exciting places such as Colorado, New Mexico, South Dakota, California, Washington and wintering in The Valley of south Texas creating many valuable memories along her way.

She is survived by her beloved husband Weldon, 2 daughters Connie Smith and Cathy Stanley,granddaughters Amie Cooley, Trey Whitley, Tressie Zellner and Sarrie Kute, 9 great grandchildren Ashtyn and Stoney Cooley, Tynlee and Berklee Whitley,
Dexter, Clara, Felix, Otis Zellner, Chloe Kute as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

A visitation will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2022 at Fry-Smith Funeral Home Tuscola, Texas from 5pm to 7pm. Services will be at 9:30am at Jim Ned Valley Church of Christ Thursday, August 25, 2022 with burial to follow at Texas State Veteran Cemetery Abilene, Texas.
