TED BIGHAM

January 2, 1938 — June 23, 2015

Ted Bigham passed away Tuesday, June 23, 2015 at the age of 77. The funeral service will be held at Bradshaw Baptist Church in Bradshaw, Texas on Friday, June 26 at 10:30 a.m. The service will be officiated by Dale Bigham and directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home in Tuscola, Texas. A visitation will be held Thursday, June 25, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Ted was born in Tye, Texas on January 2, 1938.  He married Janet Echols in Snyder on July 19, 1975. Ted graduated from South Taylor County High School (now Jim Ned High School) in 1956.  He received two bachelor’s degrees: a business degree from Howard Payne University, and an art degree from Hardin Simmons University.

Ted's favorite hobbies were art and photography. He was blessed by being able to pursue and pass along these passions for 40 years as an art and photography teacher in the Snyder Independent School District. He was also a professional photographer who specialized in family and high school senior portraiture.  He taught adult Sunday school at Faith Baptist Church in Snyder for 25 years. Upon his retirement, he and Janet moved to Fort Worth to be closer to their daughters and grandchildren. They then became members of Hallmark Baptist Church in Fort Worth, Texas.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Janet of Burleson; daughter Susan Taylor and husband William of Arlington; daughter Jenny Copeland and husband Adam of Crowley; brother Ed Bigham and wife Vada of Bradshaw; sister Mary Gowdy and husband Earnest of San Angelo; grandchildren Will, Katie, David, and Emma; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ted and Effie Bigham, and his sisters, Katy Bigham and Ruby Sneed.
