Please join the family in a celebration of a true cowboy in your boots and jeans on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 1:30pm in the Tuscola Community Center, 1202 Turner, Tuscola, services are entrusted to Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held on Friday, October 25, 2019 from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home in Tuscola.
He was born in Abilene on October 17, 1946, to Lee Roy and Dortha (Robbins) Dillard. He graduated from Cooper High School in 1965 and attended Texas Tech in Lubbock.
Sonny worked for Armour and Company, West Texas Rehabilitation Center, Hi-Pro Animal Health and Luskey/Ryon Western Store before retiring to Tuscola.
Sonny was the type of man who would do anything for anyone and valued hard work. Sonny was a cowboy to his core. His love for horses, horse racing and traveling, was seen all throughout his life. The only things he loved more than being a cowboy was Jesus and his wife Naomi. One thing his family and friends will always remember about him is how deeply he loved Naomi. The love and respect they have for each other is one you only see in movies or read about in books, those around them had the privilege to see that love firsthand.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Dortha Lu Dillard and his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Naomi of the home; son Lee Dillard (Peppie) of Midland, TX; Daughter Davida Helton (Lon) of Kerrville, TX and Sherri Bostick of Denver CO; Grandchildren, Robert Sawyer, Amanda Wyninegar (William), Warren Bostick and Jacqueline Dillard; seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers please make a donation in Sonny’s name to the Lymphoma Cancer Society PO Box 98016, Washington DC 98016, or a charity of your choice.
