BUFFALO GAP: Shirley June (Ewing) Lott-Roberson, 85, lifelong resident of Buffalo Gap, Texas, passed away on March 28, 2022, in Abilene.
She was born in Anson, Texas, to Carlos Ewing and Nancy Pearl (McCoy) Ewing on June 5, 1936. Shirley attended school in Anson and Abilene. She worked at the Buffalo Gap Steakhouse for many years then became the assistant manager of the Buffalo Gap Liquor Store and later manager of H & H Beverages in Abilene. She was a Baptist and loved to travel, go fishing, camping, and work with ceramics and other crafts. For several years, Shirley was the First-Place winner at the Dyess Arts and Crafts Fair for her ceramics. She also won Best of Show at the West Texas Fair and Rodeo. Shirley was known to donate her ceramics, as well as other crafts she had created, to benefit various fund-raising efforts.
Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Charley (Rip) Roberson (2007); son, Clinton David Lott (2019); and brothers, Elzie Ewing, Archie Ewing, and Riley Ewing.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammy Wallace, and husband Brian, of Valle De Oro; son, Johnny Lott of Abilene; grandchildren, Kevin Wallace, Justin Wallace, Chris Wallace, Michael Lott, and Christina Parra; and three great-grandchildren. Shirley is also survived by a brother, Carrol Ewing, of Novice; sisters, Fern Baird, of Houston and Helen Hackney, of Kerrville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 30, 2022, 5:00 - 7:00 pm, at Fry-Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Lemons Gap Cemetery.
