ABILENE: Rosalie Fields, 84, beloved Mother and Grandmother, was called to her eternal home on November 10, 2017.
She was born on August 16, 1933, in Bradys Bend, PA, to Anton and Frances (Bolf) Zagar. She moved to Sheboygan, Wisconsin, attended area schools and graduated from Central High School. She worked as a nurses aide at Good Shepherd Nursing Home and Memorial Hospital in Sheboygan. She moved to Abilene, Texas. She continued her education and obtained her certification as a licensed vocational nurse on April 20th,1976. Rosalie worked at Abilene State School for 17 years and retired on September 30th,1993. After retirement, she volunteered for the foster grandparent program in Tuscola working with the preschool children.
Rosalie enjoyed sewing and made clothes for her grandchildren and friends. She tended a large garden, sharing her bounty with others. She also enjoyed woodworking, using her talents to help with construction of Lawn Church of Christ which she loving and regularly cleaned from top to bottom.
Rosalie is survived by her sister, Betty Boyle of Marshfield, WI; son, Michael Fields and wife Linda of Sheboygan, WI; daughter, Susan Kettler and husband David of Sheboygan Falls, WI; daughter, Julie Schlieder and husband David of Sheboygan, WI; grandchildren, Paul Kettler of Minneapolis, MN, Marie Kettler of Belleville, WI, Zachary Schlieder of Evanston, IL, Naomi Schlieder of Sheboygan, WI; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Anton and Frances Zagar, sisters, Bernice La Pearle, Anna O' Keefe, Mary Jane McHenry, brothers, Eugene and Frank Zagar.
The time of visitation will be held on Monday, November 13th, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Fry-Smith Funeral Home, 502 Kent Ave. Tuscola. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, November 14, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at the Lawn Church of Christ 6301 US-84 Lawn, directed by Fry-Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola.
In lieu flowers, the family asks donations be made to Lawn Church of Christ. A very special thanks go out to her caregiving angel Elena, the staff at Coronado Nursing Center, Kinder Hearts Hospice, and the Lawn Church of Christ family.
