Ronnie Gill

September 2, 1940 — June 7, 2024

Ronnie Gill, long time resident of Buffalo Gap, Texas, passed into eternity at his home on June 7, 2024 at the age of 83. A graveside Celebration of Life service will be held on Monday, June 24 at 10am at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery.

Ronnie Dean Gill was born on September 2,1940 in Abilene, Texas to Lonnie Madison and Pansy (Spencer) Gill. He attended Jim Ned school in Tuscola. He was a member of First Baptist Church Tuscola. Ronnie was a carpenter all of his life and worked with his Dad and other family members for years before becoming self-employed. As we celebrate Ronnie's life, we remember a man who loved the outdoors, going to the lake on the weekends, bluegrass music, wood working, hunting, and archery.

Ronnie completed his archery certification through the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for the Texas Archery in the Schools Program (TASP) in 2007. With that certification, Ronnie was able to teach the sport of archery to young people who were interested in archery, as well as training teachers and coaches in the school districts in the Abilene region so they could offer archery training. He was already a Level II National Association trainer before gaining his TASP certification.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Madison and Pansy Gill, Ann O'Bar Gill (his first wife), Diane Johnson Gill (his wife in later years), and son-in-law, Terry Ake.

He is survived by his daughter, Debbie (Gill) Ake; sisters Judy Vicknair and Kay Wilson; granddaughters Misty Ake Gutting and husband Brian and Meagan Ake Urbanczyk and husband Dr. Jonathan Urbanczyk; and two great-grandsons Bryson and Braxton Urbanczyk.
