Pauline Jo (Young) Dearing

August 22, 1934 — February 19, 2021

ABILENE: On Friday, February 19, 2021, Pauline (Sandi) Jo Young Dearing left this earth at the age of 86, in Abilene, Texas.

Visitation will be 5:00 – 7:00 pm Thursday, February 25, 2021 at the Fry-Smith Funeral Home in Tuscola.  A graveside service will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, February 26, 2021 at the Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Fry-Smith Funeral Home.

Pauline was born on August 22, 1934 to Benjamin Columbus, Sr. and Vera Jo Neal Young in Dallas, Texas.  They moved to Abilene where Pauline finished her education and graduated from Abilene High School. She married Ivory M. Dearing in 1951 and they had five children in the 59 years they were married.  During their marriage, they lived in Ohio, Washington, England, Albany, Texas ending up back where it started in Abilene, Texas.

While accompanying Ivory during his 22 years of service with the USAF and raising a daughter and four sons, Sandi was able to hold down several jobs including cashier, secretary and Tupperware sales. Most recently she spent 28 years in Mary Kay Cosmetics where she attained the position of National Sales Director and the coveted “pink” Cadillac.  She retired in 2010.  “Pink” became her signature color as can be attested to by her wardrobe, home furnishings, even her dogs’ collars.

Pauline loved crossword puzzles, chocolate, and shopping for bargains at the Base Exchange at Dyess. She really enjoyed shopping for Christmas, and her big family provided plenty of opportunities for her to excel in this hobby.

Her family says Sandi had a twinkle in her eyes that shown bright when excited or happy.  They also say she had an eyebrow that could raise to her hairline if she was annoyed.

Pauline was preceded by her parents, her husband, Ivory, as well as her three siblings, Ben C. Young, J.W. Young and Retha Young Rodgers.

Survivors include her four sons Authur Dearing and wife Jodie of Stephenvillle, John Dearing and wife Ginger of Tuscola, Richard Dearing and wife Jean of Mount Vernon, Ben Dearing and wife Sherry of Abilene, one daughter Adeline (Jo) Peterson and husband David of Abilene; brother John Paul Young and wife Delores of Jacksonville, Texas; twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.  She has many beloved nieces and nephews, some of whom lived in her home at different times in their lives, who will also miss their Aunt Punkin.

Pauline, Sandi, Punkin, Mom and Grannie will be greatly missed, but certainly not forgotten by those she leaves behind.

The family would like to thank the Home Instead staff with special thanks to Lahoma Moore for helping Grannie remain in her home per her fervent wish during the last few years of her life.
