Patti La Nette (Irwin) Irwin

ARLINGTON: Patti La Nette Irwin, 55, was born on August 21, 1962 in North Hollywood, CA to Royce McKinley Irwin and the late Esta La Dell "Mitzi" Stockton Irwin Bird. She succumbed to "Multiple System Atrophy Syndrome" after nearly eight years on Friday, June 8, 2018 at her home in Arlington, TX surrounded by her family.

She is survived by her dedicated husband, Scott Schwandt. In addition to her husband, she leaves a daughter, La Raye of Calhan, CO.; her father, Royce M. Irwin and stepmother Barbara S Irwin of Arlington, TX,; uncle, Dwight Irwin and aunt Carolyn of Tucson, AZ,; sister, Kim Prough and Lee Key of Mt. Airy, NC,; brother, Eric McKinley Irwin of Arlington, TX.; sister, Carla S. Crowe and her husband Steve Crowe of Bowie, TX,; sister Shannon Blakely and husband Chris of Watauga; one aunt in law on her mother's side, Margaret Stockton of Tyler, TX,; nephew, Dylan and niece, Jessica Renee' Blakely of Watauga, TX. She is also survived by many cousins throughout the United States and will be missed by all.

La Nette is a granddaughter of the late Charles ("Charlie") Stockton and the late Lena Ellinger Stockton. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents and her paternal grandparents, Harvey W. Irwin and Ola Mae McKinley Irwin,; uncles, Murphy and Eunice Stockton,; aunt, Patti Jo Stockton Vaught and uncle, Jack Vaught, aunt, Kitty Jane Stockton Wilson and uncle, (Rev) O.W. Wilson, uncle, Herbert Stockton and aunt, Joyce Stockton,; nephew, Trevor Prough.

Pallbearers include Scott Schwandt, Eric Irwin, Kim Prough, Biff Stockton, Wes Stockton, Doug Shryock.

La Nette was a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister and friend to many people. She started working for her mother in a collections office and then worked in the office of a CPA. At the time of her retirement, due to illness, she worked as an administrative assistant to a group of attorneys. She was a woman who would give you the shirt off her back and offer a helping hand to anyone who needed it. She had a great sense of humor and had a "wicked" smile when she was up to a trick or two. Her Dad would tease her into cracking a smile by saying "Don't you smile now! Watch out, you are going to do it!" She would try to not smile but she simply could not help herself.

The most difficult thing was knowing that even though she was paralyzed, we felt that she knew everything going on around her but she could not communicate! Scott was able to secure a computer with eye tracking and that became a blessing for she could communicate by using the screen to choose letters, type some words and then hit "speak" giving her a voice back.

The world will be a darker place without La Nette in it.
