Minnie (Woodfin) Edwards

August 25, 1920 — March 30, 2018

ABILENE: Minnie Edwards, 97, went to be with her Lord, family, and friends on Good Friday, March 30, 2018. Her funeral will be held on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at 2:00pm in the Sanctuary at Broadview Baptist Church on South 27th Street, officiated by David Cason, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. Burial will follow at 4:30pm in the Hamby Cemetery. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 3, from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home.



Minnie was born in Wellington on August 25, 1920 to John and Harriet (Hitch) Woodfin. She was the youngest of thirteen Woodfin children. She grew up in the panhandle and graduated from the eight grade in 1934. She married Ewing Edwards “Pop Pop” in 1936. Minnie and Ewing enjoyed 63 years of marriage, until his death in 1999. They welcomed three children Pat, Nona, and Herbert.



Minnie, in 1959, study nursing in Lafayette Louisiana, she became a LVN.



She was known for her great cooking, amongst the family favorites were her hot rolls, home made ice cream and her famous banana pudding. Her favorite job was homemaking. Her family always said that there was “nothing she could not do”.



She is survived by her three children Pat Seedorf of Abilene, Nona Stevens and husband Tommy of Abilene, and Herbert Edwards and wife Cindy of Sterling City; eight grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, and seventeen great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by numerous loving nieces and nephews.



She is preceded in death by her parents her husband Ewing, and her siblings.
