He was born to William and Annie Sue Belch on January 22, 1935 in Bertie County, North Carolina. Soon after graduating from high school he joined the United States Air Force and served his country for eight years.
While in the military he met and married Jo Ann Brown and together they raised two children, a son and a daughter, and have been blessed with five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
After serving in the military with the U2 program, Marvin worked at Monsanto Chemical plant where he served in various capacities including maintaining two-way radio communications. Eventually he became an industrial technician for Honeywell where he enjoyed a 25 year career before finally retiring.
Marvin enjoyed teaching his Sunday school class, working in his shop, camping, RVing, fishing, helping people in the community and fellowshipping with others. He could often be found sitting on the porch and drinking coffee. He was a godly man who strove to serve the Lord and minister to the church family. He faithfully taught Sunday school to various age groups for more than 60 years as well as serving as a deacon in each church he attended. He loved discussing the Bible and served as a strong Christian influence in the lives of the people he came into contact with.
