Lessie Lee McCormick Terry, beloved wife to Bill Terry, passed away November 8, 2024 in her home. She was 89 years old.
Les was born April 16, 1935 in Tuscola, Texas. She was the daughter of Alice Hazel and Walter McCormick. She was one of three siblings to grow up in this town. She attended South Taylor High School and then went on to McMurry University, where she met her husband, Bill Terry.
Les was a remarkable wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a woman of deep Christian faith and had a servant heart, shown by her dedication for teaching Sunday School, Vacation Bible School, and MYF at each Methodist church they were members of. Les spent the early part of her marriage traveling with Bill, as he served our country as a Marine. After leaving the Marines, they moved back to Tuscola, where they eventually settled and called it home. When Les became a mother, she spent her time being a stay-at-home mom. She cared for her children and enjoyed attending their activities. She was involved in all the communities that her family lived in, was the president of the Lion's Club, and prepared plenty of wedding and baby showers.
Les became a grandmother and that was her greatest role. She spent two weeks every summer with all of her grandchildren. She prepared activities and meals to keep all of them entertained. Les also enjoyed painting, taking pictures, and crafting.
Les is survived by her loving husband of 69 years, Bill Terry, of Tuscola, Texas. Her daughter and husband, Cindy and Mike Waldrop of Alvin, Texas. Her two sons and spouses, Joel and Terry Terry and Kyle and Dedra Terry, both of Tuscola, Texas. She is also survived by her six grandchildren and their spouses, along with 14 great-grandchildren.
Les is preceded in death by her parents, Alice and Walter McCormick, and her two sisters and their husbands, Hazel and Bobby Sayles and Doris and Don Loyd.
