LaVaun Stout passed from this life on Friday, October 11, 2024. A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 17 from 5-7pm at Fry-Smith Funeral Home in Tuscola, Texas. A graveside service will be held on Friday, October 18 at 11:00am in Dewey Cemetery.

LaVaun Stout was born at home on January 6, 1928 in Garvin County, Oklahoma to Walter Lee and Johnnie Collins. She weighed in at 4 pounds and was placed on the oven door in a shoebox to keep her warm.

LaVaun graduated from Santo High School, Texas in May 1947. She married Charles E. Stout on August 30, 1947.

She worked with Charles on the ranch and held "the fort" down while he was working on the Railroad. LaVaun and Charles moved to Abilene on Halloween in 1958 and to south Taylor County on 1978 where they raised longhorn cattle and farmed.

LaVaun grew beautiful roses and a large variety of irises.

She was preceded in death by her brother William Frances Collins in November 1978, her mother Johnnie in June of 1979, and her husband Charles on November 19, 1993. LaVaun cared for her father until his passing in 2002 at the age of 102.

She is survived by numerous distant cousins and many dear friends.
