ABILENE - Larry Don Sadler, 64, of Tuscola, passed away unexpectedly on August 6, 2015 at Abilene Regional Medical Center. A graveside will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at Rough Creek Cemetery in Novice, pastor Matt Morton officiating, directed by Fry-Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, at the funeral home.
Larry was born on May 12, 1951 in Coleman to J.N. and Hazel (Bull) Sadler. Growing up in Novice, he met and married Becki McMillan on June 3, 1972. He worked as a millwright mechanic at Crown, Cork and Seal for 28 years until their closing in 2005. He also worked briefly at EC Tool. Larry was an active volunteer firefighter for the Jim Ned VFD. In 2008, Larry and Becki opened Happy Feet Pet Lodge in Tuscola.
Larry enjoyed all animals, especially dogs. Thanks to their business, it introduced Larry to many fellow dog lovers who started as customers but became Larry’s friends.
Larry was affectionately called “PaPa” by his three grandchildren; Kambri, Landri, and Brazos. Some of the best days of his life were when they were born. They adored him and the feeling was mutual.
He is survived by his wife, Becki, of 43 years; his son, Cody Sadler and wife Monique of Lawn; his daughter, Kassi Smoot and husband Doug of Tuscola, two brothers, Ronnie and wife Vicki of Woodson, and Harley Sadler of Ovalo; one sister, Annette Johnson of Waxahachie; and a host of other relatives also survive him.
He was preceded in death by his daughter Kami (1981); his parents; and two brothers, Norvell and Perry Sadler.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Tuscola Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 424, Tuscola, Texas 79562.
