Larry Lee (Cockerham) Cockerham

Larry Lee Cockerham went to be with Jesus at age 69 on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, at his sister’s house in Buffalo Gap.

He was born on Wednesday, May19, 1948 to Issac and Artilda (Golden) Cockerham in Tulles Louisianan.

He moved to Texas in 1955 and after high school graduation he went to work in the oil field. While on the job in Monhans he was electrocuted working on a pulling rig resulting in the loss of his limbs. Larry’s hard work and determination he became the only fully mobile quadruple amputee in the United States.

In 1985 he celebrated the birth of his first daughter Tisha and in 1986 the birth of his second daughter Trisha. In 1990 Larry became a single parent to two small daughters raising them in Monhans. Larry was a very caring father providing for his children and making sure they had what they needed.

Larry loved people, loved to laugh and joke. He had passion for any kind of fishing, he and his daughters spent weeks on the Rio Grande River camping and fishing.

He was preceded in death by his parents Artilda and Isaac, two brothers, and one sister.

He is leaving one son Lynn Cockerham; two daughters, Tisha Rushton, and Trisha Auten; five grandchildren Nova Devon, Jaydan, Paden, Gavan, and many cousins and great friends.

The last two years of his life he lived with his sister Mildred and his niece and nephew Cathy and Robert Lynn.
