Celebration of Life
Larry Lyndon Beauchamp of Lawn went home to his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 26, 2024.
Larry was the youngest child of P.G. and Bertie Beauchamp. He was born on March 4, 1938, in Terry County, Texas. While growing up, Larry learned about hard work and determination by helping P.G. and Bertie on the Bush and Burnet Ranch near Knox City, and first learned to drive a tractor when he was eight. He attended Union Grove and O'Brien schools and graduated from Rochester High School in 1956.
He married his childhood sweetheart, Frankie Jo Sherley on June 30, 1956. They were in the eighth grade when they first met at the Rex Movie Theatre in Rochester and were married for 68 years.
As a newlywed, Larry hauled dynamite through the mountains for a rock crushing company in Mountainair, New Mexico. When Larry and Frankie moved back to Texas, he started his 35 year law enforcement career. He served 11 years with the Brownfield Police Department while Frankie worked for the General Telephone Company. He continued his public service with the Military Police in the Army and was stationed in Colorado, Georgia, and Fort Bliss in El Paso.
During Larry's law enforcement career, he was a recognized leader who was dedicated to professional development and ethical standards. He was a graduate of the Federal Bureau of Investigation National Training Academy, 77th Session. He was the Chief of Police in New Braunfels and Chief of Legislative and Capitol Security in Austin where he ensured the protection and security of the Texas State Capitol complex. Using the G.I. Bill, he earned an associate's degree from Central Texas College of Killeen.
He also served as an investigator with the Texas Board of Investigators in Midland, the Haskell County District Attorney's Office, and the Travis County District Attorney's Public Integrity Unit. Later in his career, he was an Assistant Commissioner, Texas Department of Agriculture and a Construction Manager with the Veterans Land Board Division of the Texas General Land Office.
Never forgetting their roots, Larry and Frankie returned to farming life in Rochester for a time where they were blessed with many loving family members and lifelong friends.
Larry is survived by his wife Frankie, sons James Lyndon and John Presley and their families. James has two daughters: Kourtney Amelia Schopper (husband, Adam) and children Suzette and Betty; and Caleigh Rea Popp (husband, Earl) and children Pearl and Silas. John and wife Sangeeta have a son, Presley Suresh, and daughters, Nila Jo and Kareena Lyndon. Larry is also survived by his sisters Ada Ruth Pope and Joyce Arlene Hester along with many other loving nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, father, and brothers P.G., Jr. and James (Jim) Lewie.
