Kevin was born in Glen Falls, NY to William T. Smurphat and Barbara B. Smurphat on April 26th, 1966. He was the second of three children. In 1985 Kevin enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as a B-1 Bomber crew chief during the Dessert Shield/ Dessert Storm Era. He left the Air Force in May of 1991. After the Air Force, Kevin wore many hats including but not limited to a CNA, Corrections Officer, Truck Driver, Shift Supervisor, and even car wash detailing specialist. Most of all Kevin loved being a father to his four boys. His boys were his pride and joy. Anyone who knew Kevin knew what a great and quirky sense of humor he had. His smile could light up the room and his beard could be seen from across the parking lot.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Charles and Lillian Bump; William and Laura Smurphat; his father, William T. Smurphat; and his brother William "Bill" Smurphat.

He is survived by his mother Barbara Bump Smurphat; sister Amy Smurphat; his longtime girlfriend Laurin Parrick of 17 years, his children, Kevin Smurphat II, Christopher Smurphat and his fiancé Jamie and their two kids Lincoln and Elijah, Brandon Smurphat, and his wife Chelsea, and their three girls Abigail, Ashtyn, and Ariya; Zachary Smurphat and his girlfriend Kylee and a host of other relatives and many special friends.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to Hendrick Hospice for the amazing care and support during that difficult time.
