MIDLAND: Johnny Bob Dean, 87, passed away on Friday, November 16, 2018. A graveside service will be held on Monday, November 19, 2018 at 1:00pm in the Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola.
Johnny was born on January 28, 1931 to Lonnie and Lottie Belle (Carter) Dean in Winters, Texas. Johnny enlisted in the United States Army in 1948 and was deployed to the Korean war. He took part in the battle of Chosin Reservoir and Johnny was honorably discharged from the Army in 1952.
He married Rebba Jo Anderson on November 28, 1952 in Abilene, and they enjoyed 66 years together.
Johnny and Rebba moved to Midland where he went to work for Halliburton and then for Dean Machine and Rebba stayed at home as a homemaker and caring for Johnny and their two boys, Eddie and Bobby. Johnny enjoyed working. He retired from Halliburton after 30 years and then quickly went to work for Deans Machine, working for Eddie up to the start of 2018.
He and Rebba loved hunting, fishing and RVing in Cloudcroft. When they traveled to Horse Shoe Bay, Jonny could be found on the golf course there. When he was not working or traveling with Rebba, he was in shop working with wood.
Johnny and Rebba would tell you that Rebba loved to do everything he loved to do, and Rebba would tell you Johnny loved to do everything she enjoyed. They truly enjoyed each other.
Johnny is survived by his sons, Eddie, and wife Sheila of San Angelo, and Bobby Dean of Midland, sister, Shirley of Alaska, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Rebba (September 2018), brothers, Jimmy Vaden, Buddy, and Winfred, sisters, Luda Cook and Nelda Raper.
In lieu of flowers donations in Johnny's name can be made to the charity of choice.
