Johnnie Wells Phariss, 76, beloved father, husband, brother, uncle, cousin, and friend to many, passed away Saturday May 20, 2023, at his home in Tuscola, surrounded by family.
Johnnie was born in Abilene, Texas, on June 15, 1946, to parents JC and Leuvene Phariss. In 1964, he married Maureen Low and they had two daughters, Tami and Chandra. Johnnie worked at Dotson Plumbing for several years before beginning a career in public service for Taylor County in Precinct 3, retiring in 2008 after serving the County for 27 years.
He enjoyed golfing, traveling and fishing, but the most important thing in his life was his family and friends. The door to the Phariss house was always open and full of people, good food, love, and laughter.
He is preceded in death by his father JC Phariss, mother Leuvene Phariss, brother Danny Phariss and daughter Tami Phariss.
Johnnie is survived by his wife, Maureen Phariss, daughter Chandra Glover and son-
in law Loby Glover, brothers Tommy and wife Celia Gardner, JC Jr. and wife Patti Phariss, Howard and wife Cheryl Phariss, and sister Ann McGuire. He was most proud of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Cody and wife Amanda Black, Chris and wife Monica Black, Chelsey and husband Marco Jimenez, Jaime and wife Kaylee Glover, Kourtney and husband James Burns. He had the biggest heart for his great grandchildren, Maverick Black (14), Hayden Black (12), Presley Black (9), Austin Black (6), Sophia Jimenez (4), Chloe Jimenez (2), Emersyn Glover (2), and Emmalee Burns (arriving in July). Johnnie is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
