OVALO: Johnie Clinton Wheeler, 82, passed away on May 27, 2022. Funeral services for Clinton will be held on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, at 1:30pm in the sanctuary of Jim Ned Valley Church of Christ, burial to follow in the Shep cemetery, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, from 5 to 7pm at the funeral home in Tuscola.
Clinton was born on July 22, 1939, in Holder to John and Ethel Wheeler. He attended school at Williams, Shep and Blackwell. He graduated in 1957.
He married Marjorie Langston on February 1, 1969, in Cisco and they moved to Ovalo in 1972.
He worked for Gene Crayton farming and ranching from 1957 to 1970 and then went to work for TxDot in 1972. Clinton retired TxDot after 25 years to his second career of farming and ranching. He was a member of the Lawn Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife, Margie; children, Elvin (Pete) Wheeler and his wife Sha, Daylene Knight and her husband Curtis; four grandchildren, Bailey Wheeler, Garrett Knight, Cole Knight, and John Wheeler; sister Audean Self and extended family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Mary Howeth; nephew, Ray Dean Self; four brother-in-laws, Ott Self, Dale Howeth, Billy Langston, and Larry Langston; and a sister-in-law, Dee Langston.
