Jerry Don (Horton) Horton

July 22, 1961 — July 5, 2017

Jerry Don Horton, 55, beloved Husband and Father, was called to his eternal resting place on July 5, 2017. He entered this world on July 22, 1961, in Abilene, TX, born to Don and Mary Lou Horton.

He is survived by his wife, Mandy Horton of Tuscola; mother, Mary Lou Horton of Abilene; daughters, Stacy Horton Sanchez and husband Christopher of Abilene, Carson Horton of Tuscola; brother, Mickey Horton of Abilene; three sisters, Barbara Horton of Abilene, Brenda Horton of Abilene, Gloria Masso of College Station; two grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Don Horton, his sister Sharon Watson, and one nephew.

Jerry was always known as the life of the party, and we all hold and cherish so many of those memories. He loved so deeply, laughed so loudly, and will be missed by all who knew him. For a man who was told he wouldn't live past 12, his strength and desire to push through life's obstacles was a living testament to his faith in the Lord.

He kept saying he was coming home on the 4th and that he wanted to see the fireworks. He did go home, but not in the way we had hoped, and in his style, he chose a day to leave when there were fireworks all around him. In some ways, we see it as the final farewell of his party.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 8, at 10:30 am, at Broadview Baptist Church of Abilene, a private interment will follow in the Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home in Tuscola on Friday, July 7 from 5-7.
