OVALO: James "Jamie" Carley Clearman, 79, passed away on Thursday, April 26, 2018 with his family at his side. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Monday, April 30, 2018 in the sanctuary of Lawn Baptist Church, officiated by Mark Moore, directed by Fry-Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held on Sunday April 29th from 6 to 8pm at the funeral home in Tuscola.
Jamie was born in Lamesa Texas to J.C. and Anna Laura (Stanford) Clearman on September 26, 1938. He was the oldest of five children. The Clearman family moved from Lamesa to Summerfield, Texas in 1952, and Jamie graduated from Hereford High School in 1956. He married Elizabeth Ann Lookingbill in Summerfield on August 20, 1959. They remained in the Hereford area, where their three children, Keith, Karley and Kristi, were born until moving to Taylor Country in 1969, and settling just east of Tuscola in 1971. Jamie was a life-long lover of livestock, with a special affinity toward cattle. Stock shows were a part of his raising and that love spilled over to his children and grandchildren. Though the animals may have changed from lambs, to steers, to a one-year stint with a pig, and ending with goats, each child or grandchild gained life-long lessons and quality time with their Dad and Papa.
Jamie is survived by his sons, James Keith and Karley Joe both of Tuscola; and daughter Kristi Ann and husband Kelvin Keith Whitehurst of Lawn; one brother, Ken Clearman and wife Linda of Arlington; three sisters, Diane Walser and husband Kenny or Prosper; Nanetta Thompson and husband Gary of Amarillo; and Mary Jo Leonard and husband Mike of Canadian; brothers-in-law Bradley Lookingbill of Amarillo; and Fred Lookingbill and wife Sandy of Friona; sisters-in-law Margaret Lookingbill of Hereford, and Shara Renner and husband Clyde of Friona; five grandchildren: Kaylee Decker and husband Cameron, Klay Clearman and wife Victoria, Kade Whitehurst and wife Kaylee, Ty Clearman and fiance Madison O'Dell, and Hadley Clearman; and three great grandchildren: Kennedy and Jensen Clearman, and Mason Decker.
Jamie was proceeded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann; an infant son, Kolby Lois; two brothers-in-law, Bill and Jim Lookingbill; and one sister-in-law, Jeannie Lookingbill.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the wonderful ladies and gentlemen of Wisteria Place who gracefully cared for him the past nineteen months, and to KInder Hearts Hospice for their additional, compassionate assistance through the journey of Jamie's last months.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Jim Ned Livestock Association, P.O. Box 191 Tuscola, TX 79562.
