Glenda Thompson, 72, passed away Thursday evening May 9, 2019 with her husband by her side. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, May 13 2019 in the sanctuary of Broadview Baptist Church directed by Fry-Smith Funeral Home of Tuscola. A visitation will be held Sunday, May 12, 2019 from 5:00pm to 7:00pm at the funeral home in Tuscola.
Glenda was born in Fort Worth, TX and graduated from Diamond Hill Jarvis High School where she met the love of her life Gerald. They first moved to Arkansas, but relocated to Abilene, Texas which they called home and raised their family. She was the rock of the Thompson family and always went above and beyond to make sure her family knew they were loved. She never met a stranger and was quick to greet anyone she met with a smile, laugh, and a 25 minute conversation. Glenda was happiest sitting around the dining room table playing games with her family or at a casino with Gerald.
She is survived by her very loving husband of 56 years, Gerald Thompson of Abilene, son, Donny Thompson of Clyde, son Greg Thompson and wife Sheri of Abilene, and daughter Mandy Horton of Tuscola; Grandchildren Adam Thompson, Chris Sanchez, Kelcey Williams and husband Jeff, Carson Horton, Jackson Thompson; 6 very spoiled great-grandchildren; sister Linda Rippetoe of Duncan, Oklahoma, brother Gary Atherton and wife Peggy of Fort Worth, and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her Republican son-in-law, Jerry Don Horton, and granddaughter Stacy (Horton) Sanchez.
