Irene (Paulk) Adams

BUFFALO GAP: Lula Irene Adams, 80, passed away Monday, September 28, 2015. A graveside service will be held in the Perini Chapel at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery on Friday, October 2, 2015 at 11:00am, officiated by Steve Joiner, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola.

Irene was born in Hobbs, Texas on August 15, 1935 to William and Lula (MacDonough) Paulk.

Irene was a homemaker, she and her family followed her husband’s, Bill, Air Force career as it took them all over the states and for three years in England. This is where she managed to marry a Texas accent and proper English together, which provided years of entertainment and people asking “What did she say?”, upon Bill’s passing in 1984, she move from Ohio to Buffalo Gap to be closer to her family.

Irene was fun, from her use of words to incredible cooking, well-kept gardens, and to her self-elected position of president of the football pot in Buffalo Gap. She was a gentle lady who kept hummingbird feeders in her garden and was able to gain the trust of the hummingbirds, that would follow her and alert her to empty feeders, or perching on her for a quick rest.

Irene met Robert Haile who quickly became her life partner and partner in crime, finding fun and good times in their travels.

Irene is survived by her son Donny Adams and wife Kim of Buffalo Gap; sister Bessie Whitley Silver City N.M.; grandchildren, Amy Sanford of Ohio, Larie Denson and husband Michael of Abilene, Mandy Slaughter of Abilene,  Justin Rainey and wife Jennifer of Tuscola: and seven great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents; husband Bill Adams (dec. 1984); life partner Robert Haile (dec. 2006); and son Ricky McGinnis (dec. 2002).
