Evelyn Sue Blythe, of Abilene, went home to be with the Lord on February 3, 2021 at age 81. A graveside service will be held on February 9, 2021 at the Buffalo Gap Cemetery at 2:00 pm, officiated by Dorothy Boren, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will follow the graveside from 5:00-7:00 pm at the funeral home in Tuscola.
Sue was born to L.C and Lennie Baker on December 30, 1939 in Fort Worth, Texas. Sue was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Soinnie “Sunny” Kay Gregory and Suzette Cook.
She went on to marry Roger H. Blythe on April 22, 1975 in El Paso, Texas and enjoyed nineteen years of live music and traveling. In addition to being a loving mother, Sue also enjoyed working in her garden, serving others with kindness and gifts of angels, and writing poetry. She was recognized as one of the best new poets of 1986 and had several of her poems published. Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her.
Sue joins her parents, L.C. and Lennie Baker; her brother, L.B. “Buzz” Baker; her husband, Roger Blythe; and her daughter, Suzette Cook in Heaven.
She is survived by her daughter, Sunny and husband Dennis Gregory; her son-in-law, Mike Cook; and her granddaughters, Brandy and husband Billy Brown, and Michelle and husband Scott Beaty. She also is survived by five great grandchildren Christian, Joshua, Seth, William, and Ella plus many more she treated as her own.
