Eric Lon Rogers, 50, of Baird, Texas, passed away suddenly on December 30, 2021. While driving a work truck, Eric was able to keep the truck under control, avoiding all other traffic. A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at 2:00 pm at the Potosi Cemetery. Funeral services are directed by Fry - Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola, Texas. Pastor Roy C. Keith, Tuscola United Methodist Church, will be officiating.
Eric was born on June 18, 1971, in Abilene, Texas, to Kenney Ross Rogers and Gwynne (Lockley) Rogers. The son of a career United States Marine, Eric and sister Kristi, followed their dad and mom while serving in the military. Eric graduated from Duncanville, Texas, with later college credits. Eric worked diligently and effectively throughout his life, in construction and operating heavy equipment with TxDot and others.
Eric was a man of many talents, and utilized them in remodeling his home. Craftsman - woodworking, designing, and remodeling. Musician - country guitarist and vocals, with an ear for classical. As a guitarist. Eric played with Kelly's band when they were on stage at Billy Bob's Texas, opening for a major recording artist. Technician - skilled in electronics, computer technology, audio and visual, Mechanical - skilled with engine repair, heavy equipment operator and loved his Harley-Davidson bike. Landscaper - Rogers Family Landscape Contractors - Played a key role. Eric loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing.
A football enthusiast, Eric followed college football with great enthusiasm, especially Texas A & M. He was baptized in to the Methodist church at a young age.
Eric was preceded in death by his father, Kenney Ross Rogers, Grandparents, Lonnie and Nelda Lockley, and Oleta and Bob Whitt, and one uncle, Mike Rogers.
Eric is survived by his precious daughter Nicole (Rogers) Haines. Also surviving are his devoted mother, Gwynne Rogers; sister, Kristi Stillings and niece, Ruby Stillings., aunt and uncle Lynne and Bill Keys, first cousin Cindy Tucker and husband Mark, along with their children, Ashlyn and Luke. Also aunt Charlotte Rogers and first cousins E. G. Rogers and Leslie Rogers. Lifelong friend Gwin (Flip) Hunter and wife Julie and their sons, Nathan and Daniel. He is also survived by many treasured family and friends.
