Ellen Walters

July 8, 1937 — August 25, 2021

Moro

Ellen Faye Walters, 84, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Hendrick Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 27, 2021, at 3:00pm in the Moro Baptist Church Sanctuary, officiated by Kenny Smith, directed by Fry~Smith funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held on Thursday August 26, from 5 to 7:00pm at Moro Baptist Church.

She was born July 8, 1937, in Moro, Texas to EJ and Minnie (Shaffer) Reid. She married Calwyn Walters on June 22, 1958, in Moro, Texas. They celebrated their marriage for 63 years.

Ellen graduated from South Taylor High School in 1955. She began work on the farm, driving a grain truck and tractor. Once married, she stayed home to care for her kids and husband. Ellen began driving the school bus for Jim Ned School District in 1976 and retired in 1998. She was a devoted wife, mother and member of Moro Baptist Church, but her greatest joy was raising her grandsons. You may know her as Ellen, but most know her as MawMaw. When you walked in her door, you were probably greeted with chocolate cake and told to “Go in yonder and wash your hands.” If you fussed, she’d say “I could pinch your head off.” MawMaw enjoyed being home, unless it was “Hair Toss Day” in which she’d also enjoy McDonald’s with Brenda and Ethel. PawPaw calls this “A Regular Ole Hen Party.” Ellen loved the Lord with all her heart. She wanted everyone to know and love her Jesus. MawMaw was the rock of the family, the spoke that kept the wheel going.

She is survived by her husband Calwyn Walters of Moro, Tx, son Ricky Walters and wife Machelle, son Donald Walters and wife Deborah, daughter Tammy Tarango and husband Al, grandsons Brandon Walters and wife Amanda, Tyler Walters and wife Cynthia, Kyle Walters and wife Stephanie, Tanner Walters and wife Muna, John Luke Billington, Randy Burnsed, Bryan Burnsed and wife Chanee, Cameron Tarango and wife Lyndzie, granddaughters Amber Hartness and husband Chris, Deidra Cox and husband Cally, great grandkids Emily, Hannah, Carly, Jayleigh, Kynlee, Adalyn, Kyson, Jesse, Braden and Rylen.

She was preceded in death by her parents EJ and Minnie Reid and siblings Verlon Reid, Clyde Reid and Josie Hicks.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Moro Baptist Church or the Ronald McDonald House of Fort Worth, Texas.
