Dwayne Albert Day

Dwayne Albert Day, 61, of Tuscola, Texas died Saturday November 4, 2023 in Paducah, Texas.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday November 11 at Lawn Baptist Church in Lawn, Texas with Mark Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Tuscola Cemetery under the direction of the Fry-Smith Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Friday November 10 at the funeral home located at 502 Kent Avenue, Tuscola, Texas. Pallbearers will be Conrad Day, Eric Ikeler, Jeremy Delgado, Jeffrey Day, Donald Day and Rick Ikeler.

He is survived by his wife, Nina Sue Day and his three children who are his daughter Rita Anne Ikeler and her husband Eric who have 2 children-Via Lee and Von Edward, his daughter Savanna Lee Delgado and her husband Jeremy who have 3 children-Joslyn Nicole, Delia Mae and Bronson Nicholas and his son Conrad Levon Day. He is also survived by his mother, Alice Anne Day, and his 3 siblings, Jeffrey Day, Susan Krauskopf and Donald Day and their families. He was preceded in death by his father Conrad Dale Day.

Dwayne was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on February 14, 1962. He graduated from Conroe High School in 1980. He married Nina Sue Pavlicek on May 15, 1982 after working for her dad in the rice field for 5 years. He received his Masters in Agriculture from Texas A&M University in 1984. Dwayne and Nina Sue then moved off to the mountains of New Mexico to begin their grand life adventures. Though he had a truly adventurous, wandering soul, his true love in life was his wife Nina Sue and he devoted his life to their marriage and relationship while they created a wonderful family together. He spent 20 years working for the government in the Natural Resource Conservation Service. And then he worked as a drilling consultant in the oil field for 12 years before he retired. After retiring from the oil field, he devoted a large amount of his time helping his daughter Rita Anne build and run her new veterinary clinic. He lived in many towns with Nina Sue as they moved around raising their kids but lived in 3 towns- Datil, New Mexico, Tatum, New Mexico, and Matador, Texas- for an extended period of time before settling in Tuscola, Texas. Dwayne always thoroughly loved the outdoors wherever he and Nina Sue lived: a love which he instilled in their 3 kids. He found great joy in pursuing extreme adventures such as taking his own single motor boat 60 miles offshore fishing, hunting mountain lions in steep mountain tops with his own hounds and obtaining his pilot's license to fly his own plane to go scout for elk. His favorite times were where he was sitting under whispering pine trees in the tall mountains of New Mexico as he glassed for mule deer or sitting in the boat on a serene lake waiting for a crappie to bite his minnow, but part of the scenery that never changed was a family member of his always by his side sharing in the making of that memory. He whole heartedly lived by the Aggie motto "Never lie, cheat or steal and don't tolerate those that do". Dwayne was not a consistent Sunday worship attendant, but he had a true relationship with God that was apparent in his prayers he made his family bow their heads for before every dinner and his worship song he would sing every time he filled a hunting tag thanking God for a deer's life he had taken to help feed his family. Dwayne was a phenomenal father and husband and truly revolved every decision he made in life around what was best for his family. His legacy will live on in the lives of his family members who have been so deeply influenced by his kindness, patience and passion for the outdoors and nature which is where he found his peace.

Dwayne's family would like to extend sincere gratitude to everyone who has helped us, prayed for us and grieved with us during this difficult time and most importantly for the people who prayed for, supported and loved Dwayne.
