Dorothy Rae (Jenkins) Futch

Dorothy Rae Jenkins Futch, 81, of Balmorhea (formally of Buffalo Gap) passes away on July 22, 2022, at her daughter's house. Dorothy will be laid to rest by the side of her husband James Futch on Friday, July 29, 2022, at 1:00pm in the Texas State Veterans Cemetery committal shelter (pavilion), directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola.
She was born to R. B. and Maudie Effie (Ellison) Jenkins on May 25, 1941, in Big Spring. She grew up in Abilene and then married James Frank Futch and they moved to Buffalo Gap in 1981. She attended TSTC making the deans list often.
Dorothy was a homemaker for most of her life, she worked on and off as a medical transcriptionist when needed. She enjoyed gardening and her chickens. Dorothy often was found tending to her yard when not busy with other household chores. She enjoyed watching TV and was hooked on crime dramas and reality TV, but she loved... FaceBook's "FarmTown".
Dorothy is survived by her daughters, Cheryl Mobley of Wichita Falls, Tx., Barbara Lopez of Big Bend National Park, Donna Humphries of Balmorhea, Tx., Pamela Smothers of Tunnel Hill, Ga., Jennifer Pate of Abilene, Tx., and Samantha Pate of Buffalo Gap, Tx., 12 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren, brother Larry Jenkins and sister Brenda Harris.
She was preceded in death by her husband James Futch (2010).
