Dora Nadine Carter, 58, of Abilene, passed away at home with home hospice and her mother at her side on Wednesday, August 5, 2015. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2015 at 9:00 a.m. in the McBee Cemetery, Roy Meyers officiating, directed by Fry-Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola.
Dora Nadine was born on January 11, 1957 in Ballinger to Forest and Audine (Turner) Lancaster.
Dora Nadine worked as lead medical coder for Hendrick Hospital. Because of her health working as medical coder allowed her to stay at home and work from home. When Dora needed more help caring for herself, she moved to an apartment at University Place, where she was able continue working.
She loved to paint, butterflies, crocheting and with the boom in social media, Dora has carried on her friendships and reconnected with many of her friends from the past.
Dora Nadine’s family was first and foremost for her and with the introduction of her grandchildren her family was complete.
She is survived by her mother, Audine Lancaster of Lawn; one daughter, Sherrie Salas of Destin, Florida; one son, Shane Ray Carter of Breckenridge; two brothers, Darrell Lancaster and wife Patricia of Oplin, and Douglas Lancaster of Lawn; four grandchildren, Julian, Elexus, Angelica, and Xavier.
She is preceded in death by her father Forest Lancaster.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations may be made to the Hendrick Children’s Hospital 1900 Pine St, Abilene, Texas 79601.
