Donna Young Bugge, 72, of Buffalo Gap, Texas, formerly of College Station, Texas, passed away on April 22, 2022.
Donna was born to Alice Marie Young and Carl Lease Young, and was the third born out of four children. She grew up in College Station, Texas, and even spent a few years in Munich, Germany, when her father was stationed there during her early childhood.
She was a bookkeeper for most of her working career, working for almost 26 years in the plumbing field. Outside of work, Donna loved to travel, especially with her sister Jessica. They had a goal to travel to all 50 states together. She also enjoyed hitting the casino with her sister and friends, and was an avid canoe racer until 2000. She enjoyed sewing and quilting, and was a member of the Quilts for Cops group, the "Buffalo Gap Sew Sisters". Some of her greatest accomplishments include completing the Texas Water Safari, a 260-mile canoe race, eight times and being the first and only woman to finish 2nd overall. When she retired from racing, she continued to be a "team captain" for many years, supporting her family that continued to race. She was also a proud mom of five, as she raised her three children and her two granddaughters.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alice Marie Young and Carl Lease Young; brother Carl Milton Young; and grandson Lane Compton.
She is survived by her sister, Jessica Young Munson, and brother Kenneth Cullen Young; children Dawn Marie Bugge, Donald Paul Bugge, and Jennifer Anne Bugge; and granddaughters who she raised, Jessica Lynne Davis and Cecili Lane Bugge. She has three great-grandchildren; Karlie, Molly, and Lucas Davis.
A celebration of life will be planned in Donna's honor in the near future.
In lieu of flowers Donna asked those who wish to give to donate to a charity of their choice. Her recommendation was the American Diabetes Association or Hendrick Hospice Care.
