Georgia Dean (Deanie) May, 86, of Tuscola died on Saturday, Nov. 29, 2014, in Brownwood. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec.2, at Tuscola United Methodist Church with burial following at Rogers Cemetery, officiated by Marcy Grun, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. Visitation will be from 5-7 on Monday at the funeral home.
Deanie was born on July 18, 1928, to Walter and Lydia (Jones) McBride in Oplin, TX. She was the youngest of four children and graduated from Oplin High School and Draughan’s Business College.
She married Preston E. (Jack) May and built a family farm in the Rogers Community where they raised four children. He preceded her in death in 1977. Later, Deanie married Hugh Don Vinson of Tuscola.
Deanie spent many years in banking, first at First National Bank of Abilene and then at First State Bank in Tuscola where she retired in 1994. Her happiest times were spent with family and friends where she was called Moma May by so many of her children’s friends, as she fed and entertained them throughout the years.
Survivors include her daughter Jan Guest and husband John of Brownwood; daughter Ronda May of Weatherford; son Jacky May and wife JoAnn of Ovalo; son Bland May and wife Melissa of Ovalo, and sister Wilma (Sissie) Saunders of Novice. Her grandchildren include: Brady May, Jacey Guest, Mylah May, Rhett May, Amanda Maikranz, Cary Roberts, Sam Roberts, and Kady Knox. She is also loved by a host of nieces, nephews, great-grandchildren, and a list of friends too numerous to mention.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Inez Gilmore; and one brother, Clayberen McBride.
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be made to the charity of one’s choice.
