LAWN: Darryl Lee Reid, 58, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 27, 2021.
Darryl was an innocent soul leading a simple, easy-going lifestyle and a member of the Lawn Church of Christ.
Darryl was born June 17, 1963, in Sweetwater, Texas to Gerald and Lenora Reid. Darryl lived throughout West Texas and in South America with his father, a maintenance supervisor in the oil and gas industry, along with his family. The family settled in Lawn in 1973.
Darryl attended school at Abilene State School and graduated on June 7, 1985. After graduation Darryl worked at the Abilene State School and was named the Abilene State School Workshop Program Employee of the Month in December 1985. After retiring from his job, he rode the City and Rural Rides bus to Rose Park to participate in his program, which he very much enjoyed. Darryl was known as Captain D. to his family and friends. He carried a pencil and tablet with him and loved to write and draw in his tablet. He was fond of wearing different styles of hats. He liked cars and enjoyed going for a ride with his brothers in their cars. He liked watching cartoons, lately watching Paw Patrol and Scooby-Doo.
He had a humorous side in him and enjoyed making his family and friends laugh. He had a zest for good food and having a good meal with his family.
Darryl was a good son, brother, and uncle. He will be remembered as young at heart and will be greatly missed.
Survivors include his mother, Lenora Reid of Lawn; brothers Gerald Alan Reid and wife Diana of Abilene and Randal Norris Reid of Lawn; Aunt Ida of Lawn; nieces Emily Reid of Austin and Ashley Flatt of Abilene; nephews Gerald Wayne Reid and wife Chelsea of Wichita Falls, Aaron Flatt and wife Lacey of Abilene, Britton and wife Kari of Lawn and Wyatt Rodgers of Abilene and many cousins.
He was predeceased by his Father, Gerald Norris Reid.
Pallbearers will be Clay Riddle, Wayne Elkins, James Matheson, Gerald Wayne Reid, Britton Reid and Emily Reid. Honorary Pallbearers are Wyatt Rodgers, Aaron Flatt and Ashley Flatt.
The family will receive friends at Fry-Smith Funeral Home located at 502 Kent Ave. in Tuscola, Texas on Saturday, October 30 from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be Monday, November 1 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lawn Church of Christ located at 6217 US-84 in Lawn, Texas. Burial will follow in Dewey Cemetery under the direction of Fry-Smith Funeral Home.
