Daniel Stephen Griffing, 66, of Lubbock passed away on Friday, August 9, 2019. A memorial service and urn burial will be held at 10:00 am Saturday, September 14, 2019 in the Oplin Cemetery, Oplin, Texas, directed by Fry-Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola.
Daniel was born on May 18, 1953 to James and Norma (Mayfield) Griffing in Albuquerque, New Mexico. He married Judy Lynn Lamb on May 14, 1981 in Abilene. Daniel was a gifted entrepreneur who started Grifftree, a multi-industry business. Grifftree’s main goal is to own a controlling stake in several smaller companies, which conduct business separately.
Daniel was witty, talented, and enthusiastic. From his talent in music, to enthusiastic entrepreneurship, a charisma for sales, with a passion for storytelling, Daniel was versatile to say the least. He was always ready with one of his famous “one-liners”. His greatest gift was his positive, energetic attitude and that he would give the shirt off his back to someone in need. According to his family, “He might have been colorblind, but he was one of the most colorful people you could meet”. His greatest love was his family, and his wife, Judy.
He is survived by his sons, Aaron and James; daughters, Ashley, Amy, and Amber; brother, Michael; sister, Heather, and his nineteen grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Judy and brothers, Richard and Patrick.
