Carl Douglas Dingler, 89, of Buffalo Gap, TX passed away on June 3, 2023 at Northern Oaks in Abilene.
Carl was born May 2, 1934 in Tyler, TX, Smith County. He grew up on a farm with grandparents Dan Fox Williams and Nettie Williams. His parents were Carl Marx and Dorothy Rachel Dingler. He was the youngest child of three sisters, Jane Maurer of Lindale, Linda of Tyler (deceased) and Sally of Tyler.
He married Joyce Coggins on June 1, 1951 and had three children. Robert Carl Dingler, Danny Marx Dingler (deceased) and Karen Ellen Evans (deceased).
Carl worked at numerous newspapers across Texas both in editorial and as a printer and mail room employee.
Carl and Joyce divorced in 1972 and he stayed in Abilene at the ARNews and she moved to Tyler, Tx.
Carl met Karen Denise Best at ARN where they both worked, they were married for 50 years. They also worked at the Dallas Morning News and Times Herald and came back to Tuscola where on October 14, 1977 they had a little girl, Angie Dingler Klug and Angie had three children, CJ, Jenna, and Alaina Klug. Carl was a 32-degree Mason but had not been active. He graduated High School from Tyler and went to Tyler Junior College and received a degree in journalism and bookkeeping.
Services entrusted to Fry-Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola, Texas. A VA Memorial Service will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023 at the VA Cemetery, 7457 West Lake Rd in Abilene at 11 am. We will have a celebration of Carl's life later in Buffalo Gap, Texas.
