Bobby Ray Beard (Bob), 86, passed away on January 20, 2021. Bob was born July 30, 1934 in Tuscola, Tx. to Wesley and Bertie Jordon Beard.
Bob graduated from South Taylor High School in 1952. He married his high school sweetheart, Nita Brookreson. They began their 67 years of marriage in Dallas where their four children Sherry, Julie, Bobby and Sandra were born.
Bob enjoyed 43 years in the concrete and aggregate industry beginning his career with Gifford Hill Concrete. During his time at Gifford Hill he became General Manager for Dallas/Ft. Worth as well as Corporate VP of Marketing, Concrete Division. Bob entered private business in 1984 as Owner of Red River Ready Mix in Wichita Falls. In 1988 he became President of Texas Aggregate and Concrete Association. Bob retired from TACA in 2000.
Aside from his successful professional career, Bob had a strong interest in community service where he served as Councilman (1967–1973), Mayor (1973–1977) of Mesquite and Board of Directors for North Texas Council of Governments. He was also elected to the Board of trustees for the Dallas County Community Colleges from 1978-1984.
Bob was an active member of the United Methodist Church wherever he and Nita resided, often serving on building committees.
He has now joined his daughter Sherry Lesley and brothers Dearl and Rusty in Heaven.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his wife Nita Beard, children Sandra and husband Larry Dickerson, Bobby Beard and wife Margo, and Julie and husband Rob Morgan, brother James Beard, nine grandchildren and four great granddaughters.
Bob will be remembered by his friends and family for his integrity, loyalty, and his love of family.
Due to Covid-19 a celebration of life will be planned at a later date. Graveside service will be held at the Buffalo Gap, Texas Cemetery, Jan. 30, 2021 at 1:00 pm, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola.
