Billie Mae (Watkins) Havis

KERMIT: Billie Mae Havis, 84, passed away at home December 2, 2020. A graveside service will be held on Monday. December 7, 2020 in the Stiles Cemetery at 2:00pm, officiated by Ed Simmons, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola.

Billie Mae was born October 18, 1936 in Wink. She was the daughter of W.W. and Opal (Shelton) Watkins. She graduated from Reagan County High School in Big Lake in 1955. She went on to continue her education at Tarleton State University where she met her husband Carl B. Havis. They married August 31, 1956. Together they had three children, Carla, Jacqueline, and David.

Billie Mae began working in the Reagan County Clerks office in 1977 and served as the County and District Clerk from 1995-1998. After she retired she moved to Kermit where she enjoyed spending time in her yard, watching the birds, crossword puzzles, and taking care of her little dog, Sam.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and a brother, James Lawson Watkins.

She is survived by her daughters, Carla and husband Randy Neal of Kermit, Jacqueline (J'Lee) and husband Tommy Fain of Tuscola; son, David (Bubba) and wife Amy Havis of Ingram; nephew Willy Watkins of Kermit; grandchildren, Amie, Sandy, William, Zachary, Cori, Tyler, Brandon and Bailey. Great-grandchildren Carlee, Athen, Randi, Weston, Lainey, and Addison.
