Billy Charles Sanders died May 16. He is preceded into death by his parents, Otis and Allene Sanders and all 3 siblings, Elsie, Nancy Carol, and Leroy, plus his nephew Roy Lee.
He spent his formative years going to school at Rogers and Lawn where he played baseball for the Lawn Longhorns. After graduating he played semi-pro baseball as a pitcher. He taught his nephew and great nephew how to pitch when they came long and enjoyed every minute.
Uncle Bill never had any children of his own, but he loved his nieces, Nancy Ann (husband John Reves) and Stacy Ann, great niece, Natasha (husband Jeff Botts) nephews, Roy Lee, Buster(wife Connie) and Tracy (wife Alicia) plus, great nephews, Brice (wife Chelsea)and Ryan.
A Saturday afternoon in the summer would not be complete without a trip to Oplin to get a sodie water in Uncle Bill's hoopy. With the windows rolled down, off we would go. He loved gardening and sharing his bounty with us. His favorite watermelon was a "yellow meater". He also loved horses and his buggy, surrey, and sleigh that he loved to show off in parades.
Uncle Bill had a kind heart and never met a stranger. In his later years he was cared for by Buster and wife Connie for which he was most thankful. Our world is sadder without him.
A donation to Camp-Able.org or The Rogers Cemetery Fund would be a great way to celebrate his life.
