ABILENE: Betty Grace Altum, 80, passed away on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at her home in Abilene. A visitation for Betty will be held at 10:00am to 11:30am on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at Fry~Smith Funeral Home in Tuscola, a memorial service will follow the visitation starting at 11:30 at the funeral home.
Betty was born in Abilene to Orpheus and Eva (Allred) Osborne on July 29, 1937. She attended Hamlin High School and graduated in 1955. She later moved to Abilene to raise her children Stacey and Todd, and work as a bookkeeper.
Betty was an avid book worm often finishing two to three novels a week. Betty’s other passion was home shopping on her favorite channel, QVC. She was known to find the best deals on the home shopping networks.
She is survived by her son, Todd Altum and wife Lisa of Tuscola; daughter, Stacey Altum of Abilene; brother, David Osborne of Eula; sister, Denise Linton of Arizona; granddaughters, Stormy Burns and husband Carson, Cassie Robertson and husband Tanner, and Laken Shosa; grandson, Christopher Hoover; and cousin, Alice Shaw.
She is also survived by her close friend and caregiver Sam Carmichael.
