Adolph Sanchez Acosta

ABILENE: Adolph Sanchez Acosta, Jr. 77, passed away on Monday, October 25, 2021. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2021, at 12:30 in the Tuscola Cemetery, directed by Fry~Smith Funeral Home, Tuscola. A visitation will be held before the service starting at 10am in the funeral home.

Adolph was born to Adolpho Gonzales and Mary (Sanchez) Acosta on march 7, 1944 in Abilene. He attended school in Abilene, his class was the class that picked the color for Copper and their mascot. He finished his high school degree in 1996 when he and his daughter walked the stage for their GED.

While in high school he met then married, twice, Twila Jean. The first time the were married is when they left school and married in Mexico on September 30,1961. The second time was when both families insisted that they get married in the United States, that wedding date is on October 15, 1961. He went to work in the family grocery business, Acosta Save-Sum-Foods. He then went to work at C. G. Con as a foreman, and then he retired from the TDCJ.

Adolph loved the outdoors, mainly hunting deer, hogs, and rabbits, growing up he would sell rabbits to his neighbors for extra money. He was most proud of the minster work he did as an ordained minster in the Assembly of God. He came to the Lord in 1980.

He enjoyed a good game of Billiards, Dominos, and cards. He also loved the aggravate his wife and she was always ready to return the same to him. He loved a good laugh and enjoyed cooking a great meal.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Twila Acosta; children, Tyla Wilkinson, Michele Grimes and husband Don, Adolph P. Acosta and wife Allie; grandchildren, Mickey E. Adams II, Tyla D. Robertson, Gina D. Hershey, Malia M. Grimes, Adolph R. Acosta, IV, sisters, Edna Calderon and husband Alfonso, Jacqueline Acosta; and brother, Roy Acosta and wife Rita. He is also survived by several great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Adolpho G. Acosta and Mary S. Acosta, brothers, Edward Aaron Acosta, and Gilbert Acosta
